PASSION FOR MOTHERLAND – A vibrant night of live music, fashion and poetry!

Awards-winning Model, Lisette Mibo, will be hosting the second edition of the “Passion for Motherland” event. Based in the United Kingdom, she had made it her mission, since last year, to introduce a brand new fundraising event in the UK bringing together an eclectic mixture of live music, poetry and fashion showcase for a deserving charitable cause.

Hailing from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lisette Mibo has took it upon herself to change lives of children in her homeland for the better. The “Passion for Motherland” event is a platform created by young talented African women with the goal to bring like-minded individuals together to celebrate, network and discover new talents.

“It’s heartbreaking knowing that my beloved nation (DR Congo) knows very little stability with a low quality of living; including poor education system, poor health services and many more ills, despite the country being one of the countries in the world with the richest soil, not forgetting millions of children and their families whom are victims of ills brought by decades of war. As a result, I am determined to use my talent and any given platform to raise conscious awareness of the challenges facing my Country and one way I can achieve this, is to get my fellow industry connections to support peace and stability in my motherland by getting them involved at this upcoming event,” said Mibo.

The event will be  taking place on the 22nd of August 2014, at the Cre8 Lifestyle Centre, London. Fashion designers from different backgrounds and cultures are expected to showcase their work throughout the night, raising funds for the humanitarian organisation “Menelik Education” where model Lisette Mibo serves as a Good-Will Ambassador.

Menelik Education was founded in 2006 by Dr. Theodore Menelik-Mfuni a Congolese citizen living and lecturing in Cambridge to help his motherland but also Cambridgeshire communities. Menelik Education is a community-based organisation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the UK, with the goal of spearheading community-driven development initiatives to empower those in need in the local villages. They achieve this by providing services and assistance for the right livelihood of various groups in need of support through programme such as education, capacity-building, organic farming projects, art and clay works, computer services, Eco-tourism & environmental protection, community managed microfinance, entrepreneurship development, orphans and vulnerable children support.
