It’s that time again: Africa Fashion Day Berlin returns showcasing another array of international designers from Africa and the African Diaspora at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
In January 2013 we celebrated a successful premiere and enjoyed a warm welcome by Berlin’s fashion industry, consumers and media as well as extensive media attention. Romero Bryan was one of the fashion designers introduced, who dresses “a-list”-celebrities like Destiny’s Child, Samantha Mumba and Alicia Keys. He will return for our second edition with his highly anticipated new collection. Further designers to be admired are Arrey Kono who is equally loved by the media and the public around the world for her reassuringly stylish and sovereign designs. Also present is Angolan designer Nadir Tati winner of the Best Designer of the Year Award fort he consecutive years at Moda Luanda. Last but not least we introduce Designer Annerose Muyombano. Inspired by traditional African shapes and reinterpreted in a contemporary way, the MUYOMBANO Jewellery collection is an expression of pure aesthetics, femininity and strength. The pieces of jewellery are linear, classy and reduced to the essential, but yet authentic and sensual in their expression. Designer Annerose Muyombano aims for perfection and uses only best materials such as high-quality stainless steel. She combines excellent craftsmanship with design and dedication. MUYOMBANO Jewellery was represented by Luminaire at the Art Basel in Miami in 2011.
Get carried away along with actresses Annabelle Mandeng and Dennenesch Zoudé, who have already confirmed their attendence. This summer we will introduce more fashion designers from Africa and the African diaspora to the German as well as an international audience that Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin draws in.
Africa Fashion Day Berlin is honoured to unveil its first patron in Dr. Auma Obama. Dr. Obama on the event: ‘Africa is increasingly seen as a continent with complex cultures and traditions which not only generate unique and distinct talents but also offer new perspectives to well-known European topics. In many ways, Africa can and must be regarded as an equal partner in the creative sector by now. Africa Fashion Day Berlin is an excellent example for this development. It is perfectly suited to demonstrate Africa’s growing self-awareness and presence on the world stage.’
Africa Fashion Day Berlin is a unique communication platform that represents innovative designers from Africa and the African diaspora in Germany. We bring fashion on the catwalk that is modern and cosmopolitan. Our designers are inspired by their individual visions as well as global trends from across the world.
Let yourself be carried away by an extraordinary show with outstanding fashion, brilliantly set centre stage in an exclusive setting.
